How to Install the ARB Twin Air Compressor in an INEOS
How to install the ARB Twin Air Compressor in an INEOS Grenadier or Quartermaster. The Owl Underseat Air Compressor Mount can be purchased as just a mount or as a whole plug-and-play system. If purchased as a system, we include the ARB twin compressor mounted to the plate, air chuck with braided stainless line plumbed in, wired switch, and leads to connect to the battery. It is truly the simplest air compressor you have ever installed.
- Tools and Components
- LHD or RHD bracket
- ARB Compressor
- Owl Install Kit
- Open Ended Wrench
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- 10mm socket
- 9/16" wrench
- Step 1: Prepare Install Kit
- Remove aluminum nut from air chuck
- Install air chuck to side of bracket using aluminum nut (cover is optional due to interior mounting)
- Apply Blue or Red Loctite to innermost threads
- Use flathead screwdriver to hode air chuck side and open ended wrench to tighten aluminum nut
- Mount Switch to bracket next to chuck
- Press into place (pressure fit)
- Ste 2: Attach Harness to Switch
- 3 prongs on one side (for harness), 2 on the other (not used)
- Black on top
- Red in the middle
- Purple on bottom
- 3 prongs on one side (for harness), 2 on the other (not used)
- Step 3: Mount Compressor
- Remove 2 red dust caps from the side of the compressor
- Install air filters into now revealed holes (hand tight)
- Compressor sits in bracket with air filters towards upright piece, harness on outside
- Flip compressor upside down on install table
- Verify compressor mounting holes line up with bracket holes
- Install mounting bolts from compressor
- Bolt, washer, lock washer, large flat washer
- Use 10mm socket to tighten
- Step 4: Install Air Line
- Connect braided line to air line elbow and tighten with open ended wrench and 9/16" wrench
- Install elbow onto chuck fitting in the bracket
- Remove dust cap from top of the compressor
- Install elbow into top of the compressor and tighten
- Tighten airline to elbow at an angle to so the airline sits flat on top of the compressor and within the height of the bracket
- Step 5: Connect Harness to Compressor
- Run underneath the airline within the bracket
- Use the large ARB harness to connect compressor to the vehicle
- The small harness pack from ARB is unused
- Connect the large harness to the compressor
- Step 6: Install in Vehicle
- Remove floor mats / foam liner from the rear seat floor
- Remove the 4 bolts on the plastic cover on the floor by the rear seat
- Fold rear seat forward to remove battery cover with Phillips Head screwdriver
- Remove final bolt on plastic rear seat cover and remove from vehicle for full battery access
- Run wiring along center tunnel. Connect positive to battery terminal and ground to the vehicle ground located on the floor of the back seat
- Remove sheeting as needed from ARB harness so you can have enough length to connect the ground wire
- Remove bolts from the front and rear of the front driver's seat
- For rear bolts, move seat all the way forward and leaned forward. Then, push the seat all the way back to access the front bolts. Gently lean the seat backwards to access the opening underneath the seat
- Remove all the bolts in the seat bracket EXCEPT for the bottom most outword bolt
- Use the 3 spacers in the kit on the 2 vertical holes and on the innermost top hole. You can use super glue to hold them in place to make the install easier
- Put the bolt through the front hole in the bracket, then gently set the bracket/air compressor in place
- Hand tighten all bolts to properly align the bracket. Then fully tighten.
- Step7: Connect the Compressor to the Battery
- Use the factory hole to run your wiring harness towards the back of the vehicle
- Hand tighten the front seat bolts to slide the seat for better harness access
- Connect the positive side of the harness to the battery. Connect the ground to the chassis ground.
- Once connected, test compressor, then re-assemble!
